Usage and Repertoire
Clarinets have been used in a variety of band arrangements and ensembles throughout its years.
- Orchestras: Since 1800
- Chamber Orchestras: Usually incorporates 1-2 Bb Clarinets.
- Wind Quintet: Usually incorporates 1-2 Bb Clarinets
- Symphonic Band: Usually incorporates 2-4 clarinets, 1 Eb, 2 A/Bb and 1 Bass.
- Small Harmony Band: Around 12 Clarinets of different sorts
- Big Wind Bands: Around 30 clarinets (in which generally replaces the violins and violas in their parts)
- Large Harmony Bands: Around 30+ clarinets.
- Chamber Orchestras: Usually incorporates 1-2 Bb Clarinets.

- Dance Bands
- Pop Bands
- Big Bands: Notably used in Glen Miller's Band.
- Jazz/Swing: Played a main role from the 1910's to the 1940's.
